Hello! I’m Lydia, I am the owner, designer and creator of Under The Sea.

I was born in the Isle of Man and have lived here all my life, except for 3 years in my mid-twenties where I lived in Derbyshire. I have always enjoyed the beach, remembering fondly summers spent as a child eating sand-filled sandwiches, splashing in the sea, and collecting shells and sea glass with my family.

After returning to the Island with my husband, Dan in 2017, I found myself stuffing my pockets filled with sea glass wherever I wandered. It was then that ‘Under the Sea IOM’ was born!

As the Isle of Man’s leading sea glass artist and jeweller, I specialise in handcrafting bespoke art and jewellery. Our jewellery is made using sterling silver. The silver used in our jewellery effortlessly encompasses the gem-like nuggets of sea glass. It allows what was once a discarded piece of litter that has made its way to the ocean, to be repurposed into beautiful, simplistic, and timeless pieces. I enjoy the whole process of my work from beachcombing, designing, creating, and then sending each piece to its forever home.

All my work is inspired by the ocean and is created using beachcombed treasures which have been collected on Manx shores. For such a small Island (approx. 30 miles long by 10 miles wide), we have been blessed with some of the most incredible and picturesque 99 miles of coastline which are home to some spectacular beaches.
